This November, with the warm colors of autumn enveloping our hills, work doesn’t stop, but rather transforms, guided by the earth’s rhythms and the need to respond to your growing demands. It’s a time of taking stock and, above all, of new plantings.
Flowers and new challenges: from saffron to lavender.
This year, we decided to give a new look to the field that until recently provided us with saffron. We inaugurated a new production cycle, dedicating this land to three botanical excellences: lavender, which we already cultivated, borage, and calendula.
The decision came after the success of this year’s trial, which saw surprising demand for both. These flowers, in addition to being wonderful and versatile for our products, fit perfectly with our philosophy of organic farming and support for biodiversity. Borage and calendula, in particular, are real resources for pollinating insects.
A special visit: our beloved bees.
Agriculture is a delicate balance, and part of our work in Val d’Orcia is caring for our irreplaceable allies: the bees.
Yesterday morning, taking advantage of the warmest hours of the day, we made our usual autumn visit to the hives. We are happy to confirm that the hives are strong and healthy. Their constant activity is the best indicator of the quality of our environment and our flora.
Now we hope they weather the winter months well so we can return next spring to fly over our new fields of lavender, borage, and marigold.
We will keep you updated on how these new flowers will transform into the next OPPIO NOVO products.
