Here at Oppio Novo, in the heart of Monticchiello, we firmly believe that the greatest value lies in the community and the traditions that bind us. Therefore, we are happy to share with you the rich calendar of Christmas events at our Teatro Povero in Monticchiello, an institution that is not only a cultural hub but also a valuable ally in promoting local products and a socially responsible approach.
Just as we cultivate our fields with respect and dedication, the Teatro Povero has been cultivating the spirit of the village for decades with the event: “Christmas in Monticchiello is Community!”.
A theatrical gift: the winter show.
The true heart of the Monticchiello holidays is, as is tradition, the Teatro Povero’s new winter show. This year, the company presents “A(r)uspici!”, a work written for the occasion that renews the bond between the company and its loyal audience. It is a moment of theatrical reflection on the present, offered as a Christmas gift.
Mark the dates for this unmissable event, free admission and without reservations:

Activities for children and adults: creativity and sharing.
Teatro Povero pays special attention to young people, with initiatives that combine play, creativity, and theater—values that reflect our desire to pass on our love for the region.
Creative Workshops: “Waiting for Christmas” (Sunday, December 21st, 4:30 PM) and “Waiting for the Epiphany” (Saturday, January 3rd, 4:30 PM) to stimulate the imagination.
Indoor Theater Camp: an adventure with overnight stays included for kids, from the afternoon of Monday, December 29th to Tuesday, December 30th.
In addition, there will be magical moments for children with the wait for Santa Claus (Tuesday, December 24th, 6:00 PM) and the wait for the Epiphany (Sunday, January 5th, 9:00 PM). Please remember that reservations are required for these two events.
Walking and Tasting: the winter landscape.
The Val d’Orcia is spectacular even in the cold season. For those who love the outdoors and a slow pace, the festival offers two interesting winter hikes that combine landscape discovery with the pleasure of conviviality, just as we at Oppio Novo love to do.
Sunday, December 28th: ”Walk and Taste” (9.6 km), with a pleasant tasting session at the Capitoni Winery.
Sunday, January 4th: “Guelph-Ghibelline Ring” (15 km), including a visit to the Tepotratos Museum.
Words, Music, and Conviviality.
The Christmas season is also a time to nourish the mind and spirit.
Books: Saturday, December 27th, at 5:30 pm, “The Bookseller’s Tips” event, in collaboration with the Librorcia bookshop, will offer winter reading suggestions.
Music: On Saturday, December 20th, at 6:30 PM, Bar Il Teatrino will host a live concert by the duo Schell and Kitas.
Refreshments: For those seeking a taste of the local cuisine, Ristorante Il Bronzino will be open from December 27th until lunch on January 6th (reservations recommended), while Bar Il Teatrino awaits you for pre-show aperitifs every evening starting December 25th.
Oppio Novo invites you to immerse yourself in this authentic Christmas spirit. Supporting the Teatro Povero means supporting a rural lifestyle based on unity, culture, and the valorization of our Val d’Orcia.
We look forward to seeing you in Monticchiello to celebrate Christmas together!
